The Toronto Blue Jays have had hundreds of players suit up for the franchise since its inception in 1977, with many of them being ones you’d probably never think of again.
One such player is likely Dominican outfielder Socrates Brito, who spent a brief spell for two months in Toronto as part of a 99-game MLB career.
While it might’ve seemed like he played his last MLB game in 2019 when he couldn’t make it work with the Blue Jays, a resurgent few years in Korea with the KIA Tigers could bring him back to the majors.
“A handful of MLB clubs have expressed interest in OF Socrates Brito,” MLB Network’s Jon Heyman posted on X on Friday morning.
A handful of MLB clubs have expressed interest in OF Socrates Brito, who is coming off 310/.359/.516 with 26 HR season for the KBO champ KIA Tigers. It was Brito's third season in Korea.

Now 32, he’s likely hoping that a second shot at the majors could go better than his last go-around.
Brito played 17 games for the Blue Jays in 2019, which was admittedly a rather forgettable season.
Toronto won just 67 games that year in Charlie Montoyo’s first year in charge of the club, as they finished fourth in the American League East and well out of a playoff spot. Brito last played on May 8, picking up just three hits for the Jays in 43 at-bats that season. He had just one extra-base hit during his time in Toronto, picking up a triple against the San Francisco Giants in a 7-6 loss.
But there would still be a few familiar faces in Toronto’s clubhouse should Brito consider them for a reunion, as Vladimir Guerrero and Bo Bichette both made their MLB debuts during Brito’s lone year with the team. (Bichette did debut after Brito last played in the majors, but they crossed paths during their time with the Buffalo Bisons.)
In any case, we’ll keep monitoring to see if Brito manages to return to North America.
