Toronto Blue Jays fans are calling out the team for seemingly failing to land top-tier free agents for the second straight offseason.
After finishing the 2024 season with a 74-88 record, general manager Ross Atkins was said to be “desperate” in his attempts of landing some big names in free agency to help improve the Blue Jays. So far, that plan has been a disaster.
The Blue Jays were linked to several star players on the market, including Juan Soto, Max Fried, Blake Snell, and Willy Adames, all of whom have since signed elsewhere.
They were also linked to Corbin Burnes, who was regarded as the best starting pitcher available. Jays fans who were praying to see him sign with Toronto were left disappointed yesterday, as he instead inked a six-year, $210 million deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Teoscar Hernandez, another player Jays fans were hoping to see the front office land, re-signed with the LA Dodgers yesterday on a three-year, $66 million deal.
It’s now quickly beginning to feel like last offseason all over again, and the fan base appears to be fed up.
I’ve been calling to get rid of the management for at least 5 years.

With our farm system is such disarray it’s going to be 5-8 years before we can compete again. Shatkins must go, like yesterday

Abandoned the Jays when they pulled Berrios game 2 wildcard. Participation franchise.

This could be the beginning of the end of the franchise as we know it.

It’s been getting dark since Atkins and Shapiro joined the team and right now, I can’t see a piece of paper in front of my face!

Atkins press conference where he says he’s excited about the current lineup with one more utility or close to washed up piece coming in 3…2…1…

Ross Atkins and Mark Shapiro are the two villains that came to destroy Blue Jays.

I can’t believe this front office hasn’t been fired

Aside from a trade that brought in Andrés Giménez from the Cleveland Guardians earlier this month, it’s been a very quiet offseason in Toronto, with only a few depth pieces being signed so far. At this point, it looks like the 2025 season could be another long one.
