The Toronto Blue Jays are deciding that what’s old is new again, as they’ve reportedly signed a familiar reliever once again.
According to Houston-based anchor Ari Alexander of KPRC, the Blue Jays are bringing back reliever Yimi Garcia on a two-year deal worth $15 million over the course of the contract.

Garcia was traded in July to the Seattle Mariners, with the main return in the deal being Dominican-born outfield prospect Jonatan Clase as well as American catcher Jacob Sharp.
How long did Garcia play for the Blue Jays?
Originally joining the Jays organization in 2022, García had a 10-9 record with an ERA of 3.44, 179 strikeouts and nine saves in 163 appearances for the Blue Jays in his career over the course of three seasons before the trade. He also appeared in three playoff contests in 2022 and 2023, pitching 2.1 scoreless innings.
He wasn’t quite able to find his command in Seattle, however, as he had an ERA of 6.00 and only seven strikeouts across nine innings pitched in 10 appearances for the Mariners in 2024.
A 34-year-old, Garcia has also spent time with the Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Miami Marlins organizations.
Toronto’s bullpen lost one of its most familiar faces earlier this week, when former closer Jordan Romano departed the organization for a deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.
