It seems that wildlife continues to take over streets in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

After reports of foxes near Woodbine Beach, and deer running around, this time, it was a black bear’s turn to roam the streets.

According to York Regional Police, at approximately 9 pm on May 26, officers received a call regarding a bear in a subdivision in Markham.

Police say they received several reports of a black bear in the subdivision jumping fences into back yards near Alfred Paterson Drive and Orchard View.

“Officers located and followed the bear until it eventually continued walking north of Major Mackenzie Drive into the greenspace,” said police in a statement to Daily Hive.

They said the bear posed no risk to community safety.

The bear sighting was reported to the Ministry of Natural Resources.

The black bear was seen in footage shared by area residents.

Safe to say, it’s wild out there these days.
