Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants has, at long last, revealed its 2020 picks, and along with it, the 50 Best Bars have been released too.

This is only the third year the list of Canada’s 50 Best Bars has been chosen. The annual list ranks the finest wine, beer, and cocktail lounges across the country.

Toronto’s very own Bar Raval has taken the top spot on the list for the third year in a row, and Vancouver’s Keefer Bar has held steady as the runner-up for 2020, as it did last year.

Bar Raval, by Grant van Gameren and Robin Goodfellow, (think Bar Isabel, Harry’s Charbroiled, Tennessee Tavern, PrettyUgly, and many others), is known for its stunning interior and divine dishes.

Looking like it’s straight out of Middle Earth, this cocktail hub offers a long list of mixed drinks, beers and wines, all to pair with snacks like tuna belly, tomato bread, and basque cheesecake.

While the spot is — like all the other establishments across the city — currently closed, the team has shared on Instagram that they’re looking forward to when their space can be bustling again.

In the meantime, the kitchen on site is being used to sling Harry’s burgers for pickup or delivery via Uber Eats.
