A two-month-old baby who was inside a stolen van has been found “safe and sound” after a terrifying ordeal.
The Toronto Police Service sent out an alert on Twitter Sunday evening that a 2005 Toyota Sienna was stolen in the North York area near Islington Avenue and Satterly Road — and an infant boy was in the vehicle when it was taken.
On Twitter, police said they considered issuing an Amber Alert but hoped the car thief would abandon the vehicle once they realized a baby was in the car, and people would alert authorities if they saw the suspect vehicle.
The force advised people not to approach the stolen van, but instead call 911 if they spotted it.
The minivan was located around an hour and a half later, abandoned.
The baby boy inside was “safe and sound,” said police, adding that the infant would be checked over by EMS.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no word on suspects.
