Here's a sneak peek of some holiday foods at Toronto's Aurora Winter Festival this year

If one thing’s for certain, it’s that Toronto loves its winter festivals.

From the Toronto Christmas Market in the Distillery District to the Holiday Fair at Nathan Phillips Square, the city comes to life over the winter months.

And now, the family-friendly Aurora Winter Festival presented by the CNE is returning to Ontario Place, bringing six weeks of festive fun — and food — to the city.

Over the course of the festival, you’ll get to indulge in classic, warming holiday drinks like mulled wine and fresh apple cider. And if you’re into the sweet stuff, you can opt for a gingerbread or rum and eggnog flavoured hot chocolate.

Snack-wise, you can look forward to freshly-baked cinnamon buns topped with crushed candy cane, funnel cakes, BeaverTails, and deep-fried candy bars.

If you’re hoping for something a little more hearty, the Aurora burger might fit the bill. Hand-smashed beef burgers are topped with seared peameal, a sunny-side-up egg, cheddar and roasted garlic aioli, and are available at Wanna Burger.

Other carb-loaded and adventurous options include Gingerbread Mac n’ Cheese from Cheeseheadz and Christmas Dinner Tots from Get Your Own Taters.
