Asian Vegetable Mix recalled from Sobeys, Foodland due to Salmonella risk

A food recall previously issued for bean sprouts has been updated to include Sobeys and Foodland brand Asian Vegetable Mix due to a risk of Salmonella contamination.

Consumers should not consume the recalled products described below, which have been sold in Ontario:

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products at this time. Still, you should check to see if you have the recalled product in your home. If you do, they should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, it’s recommended you call your doctor.

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled, but it can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea.

Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.

This recall was triggered by test results. The CFIA’s food safety investigation continues, and further products may be recalled. In this case, the public will be notified through updated recall warnings.
