A 6-year-old child who was missing and the subject of Sunday’s Amber Alert has been located safe, according to police.
Niagara Regional Police also say the suspect in custody.
According to police, at approximately 9am on Sunday, 1 District (St. Catharines) uniform officers were contacted regarding a possible parental abduction.
Further investigation by officers with the 1 District Detective Office led to concerns regarding the welfare of the 6-year-old child, leading to an Amber Alert.
The Amber Alert was issued at 12:41 pm, as police searched for the child and his father, John Mitchell.
At the time of the Amber Alert, their location was unknown; and were last known to be in Hamilton.
Police have yet to release details, but say the child is safe.
