The last of ActiveTO’s closures are coming up this weekend, and some of Toronto’s busiest roads will be affected. Plan ahead!

ActiveTO closures

These road closures, as part of ActiveTO, allow cyclists and pedestrians in the city to physical distance while exercising outdoors. For this weekend, from Saturday, September 26 at 6 am, until Sunday, September 27 at 11 pm, these roads will be closed:

  • Lake Shore Boulevard West (eastbound lanes only) from Windermere Avenue to Stadium Road. As a result, the eastbound Gardiner Expressway off ramp to Lake Shore Boulevard West (exit #146) will also be closed
  • Bayview Avenue from Front Street East to Rosedale Valley Road, and River Street from Gerrard Street East to Bayview Avenue

The Lake Shore Boulevard East (Leslie Street to Woodbine Avenue) closures will not be in place this weekend, according to the city.

On Sunday, September 27, a part of Yonge Street will be closed for ActiveTO as well.

From 8 am to 10 am, roads will be closed and will reopen starting at 2 pm and be fully re-opened by 3 pm:

  • Yonge Street from Gerrard Street to The Esplanade (northbound and southbound lanes)
  • Yonge Street from The Esplanade to Queens Quay (northbound lanes only)

According to the city, public parking lots with access to parks and beaches, will not be accessible if they are in the same area as major road closures.

ActiveTO has been in place for the past few months to help people physical distance when outside. They will continue until the end of the month.

Road closures

Besides ActiveTO closures, on September 26 from 6 am to 6 am the next day, the Eastbound Gardiner Expressway will be reduced to one lane from Yonge Street to Cherry Street for construction.

There will also be reduced lanes and a partial intersection closure at Lakeshore and Sherbourne Street from 5 am to 11 pm on Saturday.
