12 movies and TV shows filming in Toronto this September

Summer is slowly coming to an end in the city, but not to worry, there’s still lots of movies and TV shows to catch filming right here in town. Celebrities on location, cameras rolling, bright lights, directors yelling action!

Be on the lookout for these local hometown productions filming right here in the 6ix. Here are 12 movies and TV shows filming in Toronto this September.

Starring Jane the Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez, Awake will be finishing up production in the city at the end of September.  While there have not been many details released, the movie is said to follow an ex-soldier during a global crisis which causes humans to be unable to sleep.

Jupiter’s Legacy – Season 1

Starring Josh Duhamel, Matt Lanter and Leslie Bibb, Jupiter’s Legacy is a new Netflix series filming in Toronto this month through to October. The show is based upon the comic books by Mark Millar and Frank Quitely and is currently going by its code name of Zeus.

Based on the comic book series The Umbrella Academy by Gerard Way, this series will be back filming in Toronto for its second season this September. Notable cast members include Ellen Page and Tom Hopper.

Star Trek Discovery – Season 3

Star Trek: Discovery will be filming in Toronto this September for its third season and will continue into December. Commonly referred to by its code name Green Harvest, the series is set approximately 10 years before the original Star Trek series and stars Sonequa Martin-Green and Doug Jones among others.

In the Dark – Season 2

In the Dark will be back on location in Toronto this September filming for season two, and will continue into January of next year. In the first season, the series followed a young blind woman who believes she found the corpse of her drug-dealing friend. When the police don’t believe her story, she sets out with her dog to find the killer on her own.

Good Witch – Season 6

Good Witch will be in Toronto this month filming for its sixth season through to December. Based upon the Good Witch movie franchise, Catherine Bell returns to her role as Cassie Nightingale in the series alongside her daughter Grace played by Bailee Madison.

Private Eyes – Season 4

Private Eyes will be on location in Toronto filming for its fourth season. Starring Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson as the show’s lead characters, the series follows a former hockey player turned detective who partners with a private investigator to solve crimes.

Condor – Season 2

Condor will finish up production in the city this month for its second season. This American thriller series is based upon the novel by James Grady Six Days of the Condor and stars William Hurt, Leem Lubany, Max Irons, and Brendan Fraser.

The Boys – Season 2

Based on the comic book The Boys by Garth Ennis, this superhero drama series is filming in Toronto this September for its second season. With a long cast list including Karl Urban, Chace Crawford, Erin Moriarty, and Dominique McElligott among others, the series was created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Eric Kripke.

Letterkenny – Season 5

Letterkenny will be filming in the area for its fifth season. Based around two friends living a very, very small-town life, this Canadian sitcom has filmed all four seasons of the show in Sudbury, Ontario.

Murdoch Mysteries – Season 13

Murdoch Mysteries is on location in Toronto this month and will continue filming in the city until November. Starring Yannick Bisson, Hélène Joy, and Jonny Harris, this Canadian drama series follows Toronto-based detective William Murdoch as he solves crimes during the 1890s and early 1900s.

Titans will be in production in the Toronto area through to mid-September. Starring Minka Kelly, Brenton Thwaites, and Anna Diop, the DC Universe series is about a group of superheroes led by Nightwing — the grown-up version of the first boy to become Batman’s sidekick, Robin.
