Hop on your digital broomstick and venture to Hogwarts is Here (HiH), an online version of Hogwarts created for fans by fans. It’s important to note that the school isn’t approved by the Ministry of Magic (or Warner Bros., JK Rowling, or any other Harry Potter trademark holders).
On the website, users can create a character and immerse themselves at Hogwarts and the Harry Potter realm by enrolling in online courses, earning house points, and chatting with likeminded fans in the virtual common room forums.
“It’s Real for Us — and it’ll feel real to you, too,” the site’s creators state on the homepage.
Potential classes include Herbology, Potions, Transfiguration, and Defense Against the Dark Arts, to name a few.
Each course comes complete with a comprehensive syllabus, lesson plans, and even assignments.
You can also venture to the Hogwarts Library to read full-length Hogwarts textbooks, as well as stories and fan fiction that were written by other Hogwarts is Here users.
If these various offers still aren’t spellbinding enough, fans can also explore the Harry Potter At Home website, which provides even more virtual adventures, resources, and activities from the Wizarding World team.
JK Rowling has also announced an exclusive, open license for teachers and educators to read the seven Harry Potter books to their students virtually.
It can be difficult in times like these to remain optimistic and positive, but while times are tough, all you can do is stay hopeful and look for all the little bits magic in the world.
