Kick off your summer at Seattle's massive street festival

Jan 22 2020, 7:24 pm

One of Seattle’s most beloved street festivals, the Fremont Fair, is returning to the streets this Summer Solstice weekend, June 20 and 21.

The festival marks the kick-off of summer, taking over six city blocks of the iconic Fremont Neighborhood, filling the streets with vendors, activations, musicians, artists, food trucks, and, of course, wonderful community members.

When you first pull up to the fair, you might feel overwhelmed with just how much is going on around you. Pause for a second to take in the wonderful smells and sights of the vibrant festival, and get ready to spend half your day checking out 300+ vendors.

The festival will also showcase some of Seattle’s finest grub with food trucks, restaurant stands, and enough fried food to fill up each and every festival-goer.

Those aged 21 and older can enjoy one of Fremont’s largest outdoor beverage gardens, with five gardens scattered around the six blocks.

The Fremont Fair doesn’t just stop at food and vendors, though. Take a break at one of the main stages and watch a spectacular performance by one of many performing artists, dancers, and musicians.

The Fremont Solstice Parade will be back in action this year, with 60+ community-based ensembles parading down the streets of Fremont. Be sure to arrive early to secure a prime viewing spot — the parade route and times will be shared closer to the date of the event.

Although we love the Fremont Solstice Parade, we do have a soft spot for a parade of a smaller caliber: The Dog Parade. Be sure to keep an eye out for furry friends of all sizes marching happily through the Fair Grounds.

Finally, you may notice a bunch of tricked-out cars in the heart of the festival. These are the famous Art Cars. The largest gathering of art cars in the Pacific Northwest is sure to have you dreaming of decorating your own ride!
