Small business spotlight: support your local skateshop 35th North

Hypebeasts and skaters alike are known to flock to Capitol Hill’s very own 25th North.

Those looking to jazz up their style or pick up a new quarantine hobby could give skateboarding a try.

While not the easiest sport to pick up, with enough determination and practice, we’re sure you’ll be landing your frontside airs in no time — although, we recommend starting with a simple ollie before dropping in anywhere.

35th North has been around since 2001 and frequently holds sneaker raffles for sneakerheads to purchase the trendiest new shoes. If you’re not about the hype, check out some of their other shoes which are all designed especially for skating.

Of course, being a skate shop originally, 35th North sells decks of all sizes starting from 7.3 to 10.5. Feel free to call up the shop to talk to a friendly staff member about board sizes or tips and tricks of getting started.

If you’re not going for a complete setup, remember to cop a pair of trucks, wheels, bearings, hardware, and grip tape, as most skateboards come in parts.

Those looking to freshen up their wardrobe can pick between stylish t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, pants, socks, and hats. While all clothing is in men’s sizing, we think of it as unisex.
