After developing the NEXUS tower in the heart of downtown Seattle, Burrard Properties is hoping to create a similarly-loved building in Belltown.

With the help of world-renowned Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron, the architects behind world-class buildings such as the Bird’s Nest in Beijing and the Tate Modern in London, Burrard Properties has proposed the construction of a ten-story building with a rooftop terrace and 160 to 180 units at 2407 1st Avenue, between Battery and Wall Street.

According to a press release, Herzog & de Meuron is hoping to “capture the spirit of Belltown” by drawing on Seattle’s history and the significance of nearby buildings such as the Hull Building, Union Stables, and the Crocodile.

Burrard Properties is proposing the project as a cultural hub that includes wellness amenities, a bar, co-working facilities, meeting spaces, arts programming, as well as retail space.

“This exciting project seeks to set a new bar for urban living by thoughtfully responding to the contemporary needs of today’s city dwellers with a residential offering that integrates numerous, historically disparate lifestyle needs into a singular, optimized, elevated and hospitality-forward model,” said Christian Chan, CEO of Burrard Properties in a press release.

The project is currently in its planning stages, with construction slated to begin in 2022 and completion in 2024.
