In this time of stress and strain, popular zen-focused meditation app Headspace has announced that it will provide free subscriptions to US healthcare workers and teachers.

Detailed in an update given by Headspace CEO Rich Pierson, the application will offer any US healthcare provider working in the public health setting a free subscription to the service. This gives them full access to the mountain of calm and relaxation tools built by Headspace.

“Our healthcare system is facing immense pressure amid the COVID-19 outbreak,” writes Pierson. “We’re seeing incredible stress, anxiety, and burnout among healthcare workers, who are on the front lines of this crisis.”

Teachers will also be able to claim a free premium Headspace account, which will include guides on how to speak to young people about a public health crisis.

In addition to helping out those with their boots on the ground, Headspace has also served up a “Weathering the storm” playlist that is free for all who download the app, even without a subscription.

Pierson describes the curated and free system as a “collection of meditation and mindfulness content in the Headspace app for people around the world, available in English, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese.”

Headspace’s CEO also details that employers can claim a premium package for their employees for free during the coronavirus crisis.

“As experts in workplace mental health, we understand the profound and lasting impact this global health crisis has had on employees and their families everywhere,” says Pierson.

“This is our small way of helping people around the world find some calm and compassion for themselves and those around them in a truly trying time.”
