Here's where to get rid of your Christmas tree in Seattle

Dec 23 2020, 6:40 pm

You went out and got yourself a live Christmas tree, set it up, covered it in lights and decorations, put presents under it, tore open those presents, and soon it’ll be time to put all the baubles away and dispose of your tree.

Here’s how to get rid of your Christmas tree in Seattle.

This year, Seattle Public Utilities is making it easy for us Seattlites. Compost your Christmas tree for free until January 31, 2020, by placing it next to your food and waste cart on compost collection day. Apartment residents may place two trees next to each food and waste cart on each holiday day.

Trees must be cut to be four feet or less, and all decorations must be removed.

If you don’t have a curb-side collector, drop off up to three trees for free at the Seattle Public Utilities north or south transfer stations until January 31.
