Disney Plus has announced that the long-anticipated revival of The Proud Family is underway, 18 years after the show’s original premiere.
The streaming service announced on Thursday that the new show, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, is currently in production. The project is being led by Academy Award-winning creator and executive producer Bruce W. Smith, and executive producer Ralph Farquhar, who led the original series.
The two will also work with Calvin Brown Jr., the co-executive producer and story editor of the original show.
“In our minds, the show never really went away,” says Mith and Farquhar in a joint statement. “It’s the perfect time to bring back this show, and we can’t wait to take fans, old and new alike, on this journey with us.”
Disney Plus has yet to reveal details regarding the plot or a release date but say that the revamp will pick up the story of Penny Proud, her loving family, and her crew: Dijonay Jones, LaCienaga Boulevardez, and Zoey Howzer.
Disney has also confirmed that the original voice cast will be returning to reprise their roles.
Get excited, Proud fans.
