Actor Christopher Plummer dies at 91

Actor Christopher Plummer died at the age of 91 on Friday.

Known for his iconic role as Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music, the beloved actor left with many memorable film roles.

In 2012, Plummer won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in The Beginners.

“Christopher Plummer beguiled audiences across generations in memorable roles from Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music to Harlan Thrombey in Knives Out. He worked steadily for 60+ years, winning a Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 2012 for Beginners. He will be missed,” the Academy said on Twitter.

Plummer had many accolades throughout his career, including an Academy Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, two Tony Awards, a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a British Academy Film Award.

Known for his theater work, he also played legendary Shakespearean roles such as King Lear, Macbeth, and Iago in Othello.

Plummer will be remembered for his roles in film, television, and theatre communities.
