Learn all about food and our wonderful city at Canlis Community College
What was once a fine dining establishment has used the pandemic to forge itself a new path, becoming one of Seattle’s most creative spots.
Over the past nine months, Canlis has hosted a drive-in movie theatre, created family meal kits, and even filled their parking lot with sand to replicate a crab shack.
Now, Canlis has taken a further step and opened Canlis Community College.

Canlis has partnered with chefs and organizations around the city to offer a variety of courses. The restaurant/college has broken down their curriculum into several parts: a core curriculum with food and wine classes, electives taught by northwest experts on history, art, culture, and business, physical education, a kids animal adventure with the Seattle Aquarium and Woodland Park Zoo, office hours with bartenders and sommeliers, as well as a scavenger hunt.
Canlis Community College also offers course kits, field trips, as well as TV dinners, all of which are sold out for now.
Those hoping to enroll in Canlis courses must pay a set fee of $25 which includes every live course they offer, besides course kits, field trips and intramurals, and tv dinners.
All proceeds from the community college directly benefit Farestart, which help get food on the table for those in need.
