Airbnb launches Online Experiences: discover the world from home

Apr 9 2020, 4:28 pm

On top of offering accommodations to frontline healthcare workers, Airbnb has launched Online Experiences, a new program where hosts can share unique, memorable activities for guests to enjoy for as little as $8 per person.

The company has also partnered with organizations worldwide to curate free experiences for those most isolated, such as elderly communities.

“With so many people needing to stay indoors to protect their health, we want to provide an opportunity for our hosts to connect with our global community of guests in the only way possible right now, online,” said head of Airbnb Experiences, Catherine Powell, in a press release.

The experiences are a new way for people to come together during this time of crisis.

Here are a few of our favorite Airbnb Online Experiences:

You’ll also virtually visit the scene of the disaster at the Unit 4 reactor and will be able to ask a guide any questions you may have. You’ll learn about the history of the region, the nuclear power plant, the work that is currently happening at Chernobyl, and of course, you’ll get to meet plenty of pups.

Why partake in a regular workout when you could join Kate, a two-time Olympic rower who’d competed at the London and Rio games. She’ll start the workout with some creative conditioning exercises and then move into an upper-body strength section, the main HIIT workout, and a core circuit to finish.

Meet the Penguins
