
US President Donald Trump announced on Twitter on Wednesday morning that the US will be closing its borders with Canada amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
We will be, by mutual consent, temporarily closing our Northern Border with Canada to non-essential traffic. Trade will not be affected. Details to follow!

The announcement comes one week after President Trump halted travel between the US and Europe for 30 days, beginning March 13.
At the time, Trump said he was taking “strong but necessary action” by banning travel to the entirety of the European Union besides Britain. He claimed that the European Union did not act quickly enough to address its coronavirus situation.
This time, it seems the decision with Canada is mutual.
