Shop from the comfort of the sidewalk this season in Portland

Dec 11 2020, 10:45 pm

Thanks to Window Shop 2020, you can shop from the comfort of your sidewalk rather than the inside of a busy store.

The collaboration between Portland Made and Makers Union PDX is exactly as it sounds — passersby who see items that they’d like to purchase can scan a QR code on the window to find the item online.

“Due to COVID-19, many makers are lacking their traditional outlets for sales, including holiday marketplaces. This contactless opportunity is a clever way to get products in front of consumers during this difficult time, while also bringing life to our main streets in a safe and accessible way,” says Cameo Konfst of OrganicsXOddities.

The first window displays are set up on SE Ankeny Street & SE 28th Avenue1538 NE Alberta Street, and NW 22nd Street and NW Quimby Avenue. They will remain up through the rest of the year.

Half of the brands displayed in the windows are BIPOC-owned, and 15% of the sales will go to support Black Resilience Fund’s work towards justice and healing for Black Portlanders.
