Customers attempting to shop at Trader Joe’s without masks in Oregon were met by a polite employee who reminded them that masks were necessary inside the grocery store.

A store representative confirmed to The Oregonian that the video was taken outside a Trader Joe’s in Salem last weekend.

In the video, you can see a masked manager in his Trader Joe’s Hawaiian shirt starting a conversation with someone without a mask who says that they are “here to peacefully shop.”

“I don’t want to tell you guys what to think, what to do, what to believe, anything like that,” the store manager says in the video. “I would ask kindly that you guys understand here at TJ’s we are just trying to work, make a living. The difference you are trying to make isn’t going to be made with us, it can be made with the government.”

Oregon has required masks in indoor spaces since October 2020.

In the video, the anti-mask demonstrators tried to walk into the store and were stopped as more store representatives came out to block the entrance.

The video currently has more than 500,000 views on Instagram and over seven million views on Twitter.

Daily Hive has reached out to Trader Joe’s for comment.
