The Oregon Health Authority confirmed 259 new known cases of COVID-19, with two new additional deaths, on Friday.
At the time of writing, the total number of known cases in Oregon sits at 24,421, with 414 deaths.
According to Oregon Health Authority, the new cases are in the following counties: Benton (two), Clackamas (16), Columbia (one), Coos (one), Curry (one), Deschutes (two), Douglas (one), Hood River (two), Jackson (18), Jefferson (six), Klamath (two), Lane (four), Lincoln (six), Linn (three), Malheur (28), Marion (55), Morrow (three), Multnomah (38), Polk (eight), Umatilla (17), Union (one), Wasco (one), Washington (25) and Yamhill (18).

“Oregon’s 414th COVID-19 death is a 96-year-old woman in Marion County who tested positive on Aug. 11 and died on Aug. 19 at Salem Hospital. She had underlying conditions,” writes the OHA.
“OHA released its latest modeling update today. As with previous reports, it modeled three future scenarios with different assumptions about transmission levels. The models start Aug. 14 and project over the next month.”
Oregon’s face covering ordinance continues to be in effect, which mandates that all Oregonians wear masks when in public if a distance of six feet cannot be maintained. This includes indoor and outdoor spaces.
The restrictions in an executive order passed down by Governor Kate Brown have seen some loosening. Instituting a new phased reopening plan, the state will reevaluate how to approach the coronavirus on a county-by-county basis as businesses look to reopen.
