Oregon reports 219 new confirmed cases of coronavirus, five new deaths

On Tuesday, the Oregon Health Authority confirmed 219 new known cases of COVID-19 and five new fatalities.

At the time of writing, the number of known cases in Oregon sits at 10,605, with 220 deaths.

According to Oregon Health Authority, the new cases are in the following counties: Benton (two), Clackamas (18), Columbia (two), Coos (four), Crook (one), Douglas (three), Hood River (three), Jefferson (two), Josephine (three), Klamath (one), Lake (one), Lane (16), Lincoln (one), Linn (one), Malheur (seven), Marion (23), Morrow (two), Multnomah (52), Polk (six), Umatilla (20), Union (five), Wallowa (one), Wasco (two), Washington (27), and Yamhill (16).

“Oregon’s 220th COVID-19 death is a 62-year-old woman in Marion County who tested positive on June 10 and died on July 6, at Salem Hospital. She had underlying medical conditions,” reads the release from the OHA.

The OHA is also reminding people that federal authorities continue to recommend wearing masks in public, including recent orders from Governor Kate Brown making face coverings mandatory in the state of Oregon beginning July 1.

The restrictions in an executive order passed down by Governor Brown have recently seen loosening. Instituting a new phased reopening plan, the state will reevaluate how to approach the coronavirus on a county-by-county basis as businesses look to reopen.
