What to eat in Portland today: Mikiko Mochi Donuts

There’s no getting around it, we love doughnuts, especially in and around the Portland-metro area. We are fortunate for many things, and one of the best of which is our exemplary array of cake-like sweet treats.

One shop in Oregon is giving us all of the dessert feels we deserve, with an added twist. Making Mikiko Mochi Donuts stand out amongst a crowd of legends.

“You have never had a donut like this,” reads their about us page, and we cannot disagree. There’s a sensational change-up in using mochi dough to make the holed and baked goods.

With limited operation hours, Mikiko has been serving up their strange little wonders via online ordering and select delivery dates. This little shop is a wonderful example of fruitful ingenuity (using community kitchens and pre-orders) and out of this world tastes.

The next delivery date is on August 16, so get your orders in as soon as possible to ensure you don’t miss out on these next-level doughnuts.

Seasonal menu items decorate the Mikiko Mochi Donuts menu, and their August flavors like pandan with matcha, passion orange guava, and ube with li hing are stunning.

However, the Mikiko Black Seasame donut is such a shocking adventure in baked treats that we just cannot avoid suggesting you try them. Even the creator themselves calls the Black Seasame “peak donut.”
