Former First Lady Michelle Obama to launch her own podcast

Jul 16 2020, 5:27 pm

In partnership with Spotify and Higher Ground Productions, The Michelle Obama Podcast premieres exclusively with the audio platform on July 29.

Higher Ground, the production company founded by former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama, specializes in film production with the intent of providing platforms for underheard and diverse voices.

In 2020, Higher Ground was nominated and won an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature for their film, American Factory.

Their latest collaboration with Spotify will feature multiple projects, spanning years, according to a press release. The first of which, The Michelle Obama Podcast, will feature special guests like Craig Robinson, Michele Norris, Dr. Sharon Malone, Conan O’Brien, and more. The show will focus on relationships and how they shape us as human beings.

“My hope is that this series can be a place to explore meaningful topics together and sort through so many of the questions we’re all trying to answer in our own lives,” says Michelle. “Perhaps most of all, I hope this podcast will help listeners open up new conversations—and hard conversations—with the people who matter most to them. That’s how we can build more understanding and empathy for one another.”
