KFC is sending one million pieces of chicken to families across America
KFC announced Tuesday that it will send one million pieces of chicken to its restaurants around the country to support local communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
KFC franchises around the country will be given additional chicken for free and will have the opportunity to decide how the food will best help their communities, be it by donating the chicken to organizations and food banks or by handing out free meals to those in need.
“Seeing our franchisees coming together and helping their neighbors during this crisis has inspired us to do more,” said the president of KFC US, Kevin Hochman, in a press release.
“Many KFC restaurants across the US are small, family-owned businesses, and while they are facing uncertainty, they continue to keep their restaurants open every day to feed our customers. During this unprecedented time, our franchisees are also helping make sure those in need are able to enjoy the comfort and familiarity of a hot meal.”
All KFC locations in the States will continue to offer drive-thru, carry-out, and free delivery options through April 26.
Additionally, the company has donated $400,000 to Blessings in a Backpack to provide meals to children in need. The company also continues to run its Harvest program, which donates unsold food to local food banks in need.
