What to eat in Portland today: Doe Donuts and Ice Cream

Oct 9 2020, 6:33 pm

When it comes to baked dough treats in Portland, we’re spoiled beyond belief. We may be the Rose City, but Donut District isn’t an inaccurate nickname for our region, either.

One of those special shops to add to the Donut Tour of PDX is Doe Donuts and Ice Cream, who are serving up some pretty fantastic menu items that are some of the best value for your hard-earned dough.

Whether you’re going to Doe for the donuts or for the ice cream, there are dozens of options tantalizing enough to make the trip worth it, especially if you’re on the hunt for the perfect vegan-friendly treat.

This woman-owned business is among the must-try vegan spots in Oregon. They are small-batch and would always rather sell out than sell day-olds.

What to order

We will always suggest that fans of the vegan donut check out the Doe Donuts and Ice Cream seasonal menu, because it’s shockingly vibrant and curated to perfection. From French-toast-inspired donuts to tiramisu-filled donuts, there is always something exceptional on their menu.

However, one donut is beyond our comprehension and good enough that we often brag about how fantastic it is to folks from all corners of the globe. It’s the hop-on-a-plane kind of difference maker.

You’ve got to try the Doe Mac. Cheeseburger-savory flavors on the inside, pickle-topped, and it is so mind-bendingly delicious that we wouldn’t blame you for ordering a whole dozen of them. It’s a burger in a pocket of dough, and we just can’t stop raving about it.
