Delta Airlines extends rebooking period to 2 years

In order to offer sufficient rebooking windows for customers, Delta Airlines has extended its window upwards of two years from its customers’ original flight date.

Announced in an update on its website, the airline said it is continuing to try and make things easier for passengers to do things like cancel, rebook, or change travel plans as bans and restrictions get tighter across the globe due to the continuing pandemic.

“Taking care of customers is at the center of everything we do. In these times of rapid change, we know our customers want the value of their tickets to be secure and redeemable for a longer period,” reads the update from Delta.

Thought tickets purchased for flights with Delta Airlines normally would “expire” a year after the date of purchase, desperate and unprecedented times call for many companies — like Delta — around the world to adapt to the current climate.

Flights that currently qualify for the two-year window are those purchased prior to April 3, and consist of travel anywhere in the world in the months of April or May. People with travel credits for those months are also qualified to adjust their plans to a date within the next two years.

New tickets that will be purchased between March 1 and May 31, will get a one-year window for re-booking, and any change fees will be waived by the airline.

“Just as our business is changing, we know that events in our customers’ lives are being changed and canceled, too. As always, we’re happy to work with customers on a case-by-case basis to figure out the best way to address their concerns.”
