Confirmed coronavirus cases in the US surpass one million

As of Monday afternoon, the total confirmed number of coronavirus cases in the United States has surpassed one million, according to the World Health Organization.

At the time of writing, the total of cases in the US is 1,004,679. Just 14 days ago, the US exceeded 500,000 cases.

Reported stats show that 137,591 people have recovered from the virus, and there have been 56,495 deaths due to the disease.

With news that the global case count broke three million this morning, the United States is home to a third of the entire world’s known cases.

Seven countries have over 100,000 known cases: United States (999,706), Spain (229,422), Italy (199,414), France (165,842), Germany (158,213), UK (157,149), and Turkey (112,261).
