What to eat in Portland today: Basilisk PDX

Sometimes a food establishment becomes legendary on its own merits — putting in the time, the skills, and the heart, to make our culinary experience better. Some eateries are good enough to designate themselves legendary, which is precisely why no one is about to question the stellar Basilisk, and their use of the word.

Legendary isn’t even enough to describe just how amazing these chicken masters are, serving up some of the best sandwiches this side of the Rocky Mountains.

Eateries that do one thing, and maintain a level of perfection with that one thing for years, deserve to be mentioned in the conversation for best this amazing culinary region has to offer. For Basilisk, that’s fried chicken sandwiches.

What to order

If it hasn’t become clear, Basilisk makes a mean poultry handheld. However, there is no losing with anything on their menu. From the fried or grilled chicken salads, and one of our favorite wicked fries in Portland, Basilisk has a ton to offer aside from their flagship legendary status giver.

We would, however, be extremely lame not to suggest you try the classic Fried Chicken Sandwich for which Basilisk has become one of Portland’s favorite stops. With Southern-style toppings (pickled cucumbers and slaw), this crunchy delight is worth the trip up to Kerns.

Currently, the shop is accepting online orders only, with masks required to pick-up.
