Hallowind Halloween is not starting off well as Montreal is currently under two types of weather warnings.

Along with Wednesday’s rainfall alert, Environment Canada has tacked on a wind warning for the Greater Montreal area.

“Southwesterly winds will reach up to 90 kilometres per hour beginning Friday morning,” states the weather agency.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of harsh winds. Damage to buildings, roof shingles, and windows, are possible. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage, as per Environment Canada.

The wind warning, issued in the early hours of Thursday, is in effect for the following areas:

  • Châteauguay – La Prairie area
  • Laval area
  • Longueuil – Varennes area
  • Montréal Island area

Environment Canada urges citizens to continually monitor weather alerts and updates around the effected areas.
