A gunman opened fire on an Uber driver and two passengers just after 10:30 pm on Monday night in Montreal North.

All three people who were inside the car escaped with no injuries, according to Montreal police.

In a phone call with Daily Hive, a spokesperson for the SPVM said an Uber driver picked up two 19-year-old passengers, who did not know each other, on the corner of Balzac Avenue and Amos Street when a gunman walked towards the car and opened fire.

After “several shots” were fired, the driver reportedly sped off and parked roughly 3 km away before calling for help. The suspect fled the scene.

Police say one bullet shattered the Honda Civic’s back window and several shell casings were found in the area.

The SPVM says the victims are known to police but did not appear to know the driver.

Authorities are asking witnesses who may have been in the area to come forward to share any information they may have.
