Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Montreal today

It’s about to get stormy in Montreal.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Montreal area.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” said Environment Canada.

The warning is in effect for the following areas:

  • Laval area
  • Longueuil – Varennes area
  • Montréal Island area

A severe thunderstorm watch is issued “when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.”

Be sure to keep track of storm conditions on the Environment Canada website.

Oh, and make sure to bring your umbrella.
