Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Montreal this afternoon

It’s about to get stormy in Montreal.

Environment Canada has issued a thunderstorm warning for the Montreal area.

“Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain,” said the weather agency in an online statement.

The warning is in effect for the following areas:

• Laval area
• Longueuil – Varennes area
• Montréal Island area
