Samuel De Champlain Bridge to be lit with festive colours this month

The Samuel De Champlain Bridge will be lit up in festive colours this month to celebrate the holiday season.

Infrastructure Canada has announced that starting today, the bridge will be lit red, green, and white every evening for the rest of December.

The illumination will begin at sunset and last until 1:00am.

“In Greater Montreal and across the country, the holidays will be celebrated quite differently this year due to the pandemic,” said Catherine McKenna, the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities.

“But the Samuel De Champlain Bridge will shine bright in festive colors as a symbol of hope and unity.”

The holiday display will not affect the bridge’s rainbow illumination, which will continue throughout December on Sundays from 8:00pm to 9:00pm.

The bridge has been lit by rainbows nightly for months, after the colours became a symbol of hope and solidarity throughout Montreal.

“This holiday season, let’s all stay safe, continue to look out for each other, and take care of our communities,” said McKenna.
