Aug 13 2018, 11:39 pm

Mont-Royal Avenue will be hosting an eventful, free urban street fair to close out the summer in style.

The renowned end-of-summer event, RU, will play host to a wide range of artists, murals, concerts, DJs, art installations, digital art, contemporary dance and a modern zoo.

During the four-day festival, RU will close Mont-Royal Avenue to vehicular traffic from Boulevard Saint- Laurent to Rue Fullum.

The street festival will be highlighted by RU’s ‘Psychozoo’ in which 15 professional artists showcase art and animals like no other. Using sculptures, installations, photographs, digital form and performance pieces, artists will create a massive exhibition to honour the animal kingdom in hundreds of different ways.

The ‘Pyschozoo’ site will feature a bar terrace hosted by the local Belle Gueule beer as well as DJs to keep the ambiance noise happening.

On Friday, 22 other artists will use the Avenue’s pavement as their canvases as they decorate the ground with majestic art pieces.

The musical venue will be set up on the corner of Rue Boyer for the event and will feature the likes of local bands that include: Barry Paquin Roberge, Voyage Massage, Les Hay Babies and Kroy – Camille Poliquin.

The festival will also welcome Martine Castera and Léa Tremblay-Fong in a modern street dance that expresses feminism in alternative ways.
