The coronavirus situation in Quebec appears to bet getting worse as the province announced 698 new coronavirus cases on Saturday.

That’s the highest new daily case count the province has seen since May.

The latest cases continue a troubling trend of new infections increasing rapidly. It’s the third day in a row Quebec has seen more than new cases.

Hospitalizations also increased by 18 on Saturday, although no new deaths were reported.

Quebec has seen the most coronavirus infections of any province in Canada, and its new infections are rising at the same time that new cases are trending upwards in most other parts of the country.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau went so far as to say the fall “second wave” is already underway in a televised address to the nation this week.
