Quebec sets new record with more than 1,100 coronavirus cases in one day

Quebec set a new record Saturday for the highest number of new coronavirus infections discovered in a single day.

The province announced 1,107 new cases Saturday, in line with numbers from recent days when the province has seen a second surge of new cases after a relative lull in the summer.

One more person died from their infection Saturday, bringing the Quebec’s coronavirus death toll to 5,867.

Twenty-four more people were admitted to hospital since Friday, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases admitted to hospital in Quebec to 326. Sixty of those patients are in the ICU.

Quebec has seen 77,380 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, the most of any Canadian province.
