Some Canadian Twitter users are questioning a recent post from Passport Canada, who urged citizens to renew their passports for those planning a winter vacation.
A tweet posted on Passport Canada’s verified account on Friday afternoon asked, “Are you planning a winter vacation but donāt have a valid passport? Donāt wait, apply now!ā
The tweet comes despite travel restrictions from the federal government, advising against all non-essential travel outside the country as the COVID-19 pandemic rages on.

The Government of Canada’s website says it has implemented “strict travel restrictions” and warns that Canadians “may have difficulty returning to Canada.” Travel to the US has also been limited to essential travel only and has been in place since March.
Passport Canadaās tweet comes while various countries around the world ā including Canada ā struggle with the second wave of COVID-19.

Twitter users were quick to question Passport Canadaās tweet.
The tweet was shared with Hootsuite Inc., a social media app that schedules posts. It’s unclear if the Passport Canada tweet was previously scheduled, only to be removed when it was too late.
Daily Hive reached out toĀ Global Affairs Canada for clarification but has yet to receive any additional details.

Majority of folks are unable to visit their family relatives who reside in different provinces yet people can travel overseas for winter vacation? I thought currently non-essential/leisure travel were restricted in šØš¦?
