New shows and movies to watch on Netflix Canada this weekend

Having just officially kicked off summer and with July quickly approaching, you might see your Netflix watching hours start to diminish.

Not to mention, we’ve put in our streaming time over the past three months.

Deconfinement means life is slowly starting to shape again and this weekend might be the last good time to put in some serious binge-watching time before you head back to the non-living room world of beaches, parks, malls, restaurants, cafes, and events.

Here are some newly-added Netflix Canada shows and flicks to consider diving into as the days of June start to trickle away.

Crazy Delicious 

Crazy Delicious is a cooking/competition show with a twist. Daring home chefs try to tempt the food gods with reinvented classics and fanciful feats in a strange but entertaining quest to win the coveted golden apple.

Athlete A

This Netflix documentary follows reporters from the Indianapolis Star who broke the story about USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar’s and his abuse of athletes that spanned over two decades.

Nobody Knows I’m Here/ Nadie sabe que estoy aquí

The show follows the life of Memo Garrido, a lonely former child singer who changes forever after meeting Marta, a woman who forces him to face his past, giving him an opportunity for redemption against a confusing incident that destroyed his career.

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga

How about some Canadian content (Rachel McAdams) and some Will Ferrell this weekend?

Ferrell stars as Lars and McAdams as Sigrit, two aspiring musicians who are given the opportunity of a lifetime to represent their country at the world’s biggest song competition and finally have the chance to prove that any dream worth having is a dream worth fighting for.

Home Game

From voodoo wrestling in the Congo to roller derby in Texas, this docuseries explores unusual and thrilling sports traditions around the world.

Eric Andre: Legalize Everything 

The always wacky but enjoyable comedian Eric Andre presents his first Netflix original stand-up special, Legalize Everything. Taking the stage in New Orleans, Andre breaks the boundaries of comedy as he critiques the war on drugs, the war on sex, and the war on fart jokes (obviously). 

Wasp Network

Based on a true and gripping story: Wasp Network features an incredible cast and follows a group of Cuban spies who infiltrate exile groups in the 1990s to stop terrorism against the island, at a high personal cost.

One-Way To Tomorrow
