A White Christmas is in the forecast for Montreal

Dec 18 2020, 3:21 pm

We’re only a week away from the most wonderful time of the year, and it seems like Montreal will be sprinkled with a White Christmas.

According to The Weather Network’s seven-day forecast, Montreal could be in for up to eight centimetres of snow on the big day.

One to three centimetres of snow is expected to fall on Christmas Eve, followed by up to five centimetres on Christmas Day.

At the beginning of the week, Peter Kimbell, a Warning Preparedness Meteorologist at Environment Canada, said that Montreal had a 76% chance of a White Christmas, but it seems like that percentage is increasing as we get closer to Christmas Day.

Kimbell says Montreal has had 25 perfect Christmases in 63 years. Overall, Quebec has a 97% chance of snow on the ground come Christmas morning, with 60 perfect, snowy Christmases recorded.

Montreal is expected to get up to four centimetres of snowfall throughout this weekend, wedged between two days of relatively mild temperatures before the forecasted downfall on Christmas Eve and Day.
