Montreal is about to get a taste of winter.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Montreal area on Thursday night.
“A vigorous cold front will sweep across Southern and Central Quebec Thursday night. Behind the front, strong westerlies will cause a drastic drop in temperatures. Friday morning, the cold will be harsh as the mercury falls well below normal values,” said Environment Canada in a statement.
“As the front passes, the showers will change to snow leaving a snow blanket mainly in higher elevations.”
The weather warning is in place for the following areas:
- Châteauguay – La Prairie area
- Laval area
- Longueuil – Varennes area
- Montréal Island area
The cold front will continue for the weekend and flurries are expected on Sunday.
