Judah Friedlander at Just for Laughs

Judah Friedlander may be best known for playing Frank Rossitano on 30 Rock but he burst onto the comedic scene with his hilarious Netflix special, America Is The Greatest Country In The US. 

Friedlander’s first of three shows start tonight at Cafe Cleopatra.

He’ll be performing his new routine, America… Still Number One which will feature plenty of deadpan sarcasm towards his native country and lots of improv-based crowd work.

Get a chance to check out Friedlander for cheap at a lesser known venue before he makes it big.

Shakespeare in Westmount Park

The long-running outdoor theatre event has been performing around Montreal all July and will continue through until August. The 30th anniversary of the production embarks on Romeo & Juliet: Love is Love during their month-long journey with shows every day.

Today’s performance takes place at the gorgeous Westmount Park.

Repercussion Theatre produces the show with a contemporary, gender-bent take on the classic love story. The cast includes 10 dynamic performers, a gorgeous outdoor set, and live music.

Snacks and drinks will be sold at the park and if you don’t bring your own chair, you can rent one for $5.

Mac & Cheese Festival

The Mac & Cheese Fest is exactly what it sounds like. 15 food trucks and restaurant outlets from all over Montreal will fill up guests with their take on everybody’s favourite comfort food. See you later, summer body.

Searching at Fantasia Film Festival

Searching follows David Kim (played by John Cho) and his small town’s local investigation for his missing 16-year-old daughter. After two days of searching shows up empty, David decided to search the one place no has looked yet: his daughter’s laptop.

The indie thriller has blockbuster potential as it examines themes of technology and digital addiction.

Free Just for Laughs/Netflix Taping

The powerful duo of Netflix and Just for Laughs have teamed up to film a variety of comedians from around the world at the festival. The show will be part of a new Netflix comedy series set to premiere in 2019.

Why not be part of the audience? It’s free and in a few months, maybe you can hear your awkward laugh on the streaming service.

Today’s taping focuses on South African comedians which include Riaad Moosa, Loyiso Madinga, and Tumi Morake.
