Old Montreal can now add a mesmerizing light show to its constantly expanding list of things to do.

Plus, it’s inside a giant pyramid. You know, in case you needed any more reasons to give it a go.

The first-of-its-kind pyramid-shaped entertainment venue, PY1 was created by Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté and the experimental show made its worldwide debut this past Saturday with “Through the Echoes,” a show produced exclusively for the giant triangle.

The innovative venue offers guests a multi-sensory experience, state-of-the-art technology and “a unique playground” for multimedia entertainment combining high tech with the talent of the greatest digital creators.

“Through The Echoes will be a totally immersive experience, a technological and emotional odyssey which tells the story of life from the Big Bang until today,” explained Guy Laliberté, the founder of Lune Rouge. “The audience will play the main role and take centre stage.”

The pyramid venue provides four possible configurations that can hold up to 1,000 people.

“What an incredible weekend overflowing with emotions!” reads a post from PY1’s social channel. “Thanks again a thousand times to all those who make this project possible and who believe in this common dream that is the Pyramid. This is just the beginning of a great adventure.”

As if the experience doesn’t sound intriguing enough, check out how the pyramid looks in the virtual world as Instagram was oozing with mesmerizing photos from the opening weekend.

Through the Echoes runs every day from now until September 12.
