The grace period to renew parking stickers in Montreal ends today

As of today, Montreal drivers might want to start taking note of parking sticker notices again.

The grace period for the renewal of parking stickers has ended throughout the city. At the end of March, the City of Montreal announced that expired parking stickers would be valid until further notice due to office shutdowns at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

City offices reopened in mid-July and the city announced over the weekend that expired parking stickers will no longer be valid.

According to a Ville de Montréal news release, parking officers will allow for a two-week tolerance period before ticketing illegally parked vehicles starting on September 15.

“In all boroughs, only people with a valid sticker can park in residents-only parking zones. Without a sticker, they will get a fine,” says the city. “Beginning September 1, 2020, it will once again be required to get or renew your parking sticker if you want to park in residents-only zones.”

Drivers needing to renew or purchase a parking sticker can do so through the Ville de Montréal’s website.
