If you’re in need of entertainment on this cold Monday, prepare to be dazzled by the impressive acrobatics a Montreal Instagrammer is showing off during lockdown.

Abadi al-Obaidi is a professional skater for Cirque du Soleil’s Axel, their gymnastics on ice show. Staging an assortment of spectacular tricks at various parks and alleyways throughout the city, the artist makes his performances look completely effortless.

Cirque du Soleil is one of Montreal’s pride and joys on the international scene. Forced to close early on in the pandemic, the entertainment company was forced to file for bankruptcy protection over the summer.

With the indefinite cancellation of shows due to the pandemic, the Cirque’s artists have been confined to practicing their art from home.

Thankfully, Montreal is abundant with wide frozen areas for acrobats to roam free and perform all kinds of stunts ā€” with the majestic Olympic Stadium in the background to complete the performance’s mise en scĆØne.

Check out al-Obaidi’s gravity-defying tricks on Instagram and TikTok.
