Montreal to get hit with up to 10mm of freezing rain tonight

Feb 7 2017, 6:00 pm

The Weather Network has issued a freezing rain warning for the Montreal area, predicting the city will experience a “prolonged period of freezing rain giving 5 to 10 millimetres of freezing precipitation” this evening.

According to The Weather Network’s hourly forecast, ice pellets will begin coming down at 10pm tonight (Tuesday, February 7) and will continue falling until 2am Wednesday morning.

The ice pellets will give way to rain in the wee hours of Wednesday morning as temperatures move above 0 degrees.

The site advises Montrealers to take caution when walking and driving tomorrow as surfaces such as roads and walkways are likely to become icy and slippery overnight.

Looks like it’s going to be a classic Montreal winter after all…

One positive thing to come out of the icy days ahead? Wednesday is warming up with a high of 4 degrees celsius!

Temperatures will, however, dip back down on Thursday to -11.

Be careful out there!
